About

Law Office of Paul M. Marriett, Personal Injury and Criminal Defense Lawyer – Your Experienced Rockford Attorney

Service — Responsiveness — Responsible

My name is Paul M. Marriett and my law office is based in Rockford, Illinois. Whether or not this is the first time you have been seeking the services of a lawyer, no lawyer can ethically make a promise about how someone’s case will turn out.

What I will promise you, though, is that first and foremost you will be treated better using my office than any other in the area. We pride ourselves on service and if you have found us from our online reviews they are a true testament of what we seek to accomplish as lawyers.

Not only do we diligently work cases up for trial, stay on top of discovery issues, and respond quickly to client concerns, but we take the part about being an attorney, and a counselor at law, to heart. Some of the most important work that goes on day to day, week to week, and month to month here at our office happens outside of the courtroom. Whether that’s counseling someone that has lost a family member in a motor vehicle accident that we are trying to obtain justice for or someone facing a criminal charge that could impact their or their family’s livelihood, our representation stretches beyond just the courtroom.

Second, we’re responsive. If you have a concern about your case, you’ll always have a direct cell number to call or text message your lawyer, as well as their e-mail address. There’s no barrier between your lawyer and your concern about your case. With no multiple levels of staff buffering what does and does not get to your attorney to review, we pride ourselves on being accessible.

Third, we take great pride in being responsible with your legal matter. After first-hand dealing with our own personal injury accidents, losing a family member to a fatal car accident, and representing thousands of folks with traffic, DUI, and general criminal defense-related matters around Illinois, we know that your personal injury claim or pending criminal charge becomes one of the most important things you are dealing with. By being responsible with your case that means that not only will your case be prepared to go to trial, whether you seek to have us obtain a settlement or enter into plea negotiations on your behalf, your matter will never be taken lightly, or given any less than the amount of attention that it deserves. As we have maintained since starting business in 2012, your case will never become just a file on a desk somewhere.

We are here to help people facing personal injury, workers compensation, and criminal defense related cases in Northern Illinois, including the local cities of Rockford, Machesney Park, Loves Park, Rockton, Roscoe, South Beloit, and the counties of Boone, Kane, DeKalb, Ogle, Lee, Whiteside, Stephenson, Carroll, and Jo Daviess. We also travel out of that area to represent clients; so if you have a matter that is not listed in these counties, please do not hesitate to ask whether we can serve you.

Rockford’s Top-Rated Attorney

About Paul M. Marriett

Paul M. Marriett was raised locally in Loves Park, Illinois. He’s happily married with three children and two dogs. Paul enjoys fishing, hiking, and anything that gets him outdoors. He’s a member of the Rockford Masonic Lodge, as well the Tebala Shrine Temple. He attended Harlem High School in Machesney Park and Rock Valley College before transferring to Western Illinois University where he obtained B.A. Degrees in Philosophy, Political Science, and a minor in Religious Studies. After college Paul completed his Juris Doctor (J.D.) at Florida Coastal School of Law, and was a visiting student at John Marshall Law School in Chicago prior to sitting and passing, the Illinois and Florida Bar Examinations.

After seeking and then declining opportunities in federal law enforcement, Paul began practice in Panama City, Florida with North Florida Legal Services. In this capacity, he represented indigent members of the community in family and domestic law related matters, as well as fought for the financial recovery for business owners and their employees that were impacted by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Paul has been in private practice since 2012 handling general traffic, DUI, and criminal defense related matters, plaintiff’s personal injury cases, and federal immigration law related cases.

With the ties to the local community stretching back decades, his great-grandfather had a tailor shop during World War II a few blocks from our current location on Mulberry Street, and his Uncle erected the building our current office is now located within when it was D.J. Stewart’s Department Store through the 1980’s. Paul prides himself on contributing to and volunteering through local charitable organizations and loves being able to be a part of Rockford’s resurgence. We look forward to being able to serve the area for many decades to come.

Paul Marriett has never represented an insurance company and has never taken on a corporation as a client. Since then his office has been able to help numerous people who were faced with severe to minor injuries from their accidents or injuries however a few things remained the same in all cases:

  • Even minor injuries cause hardships for the individual. If they have kids, it’s difficult to manage routine, day to day activities. If they work a job that’s labor intensive they may not be able to perform those duties, and if no opportunity for light duty is available they may not be able to work at all without aggravating or causing further injury. Having someone on your side that’s experienced with these issues, and that can paint a creative attack on the other side during negotiations with an insurance company or with a jury can make all the difference in the world to the amount of your recovery.
  • Everyone deserves to have an attorney work for them no matter their financial background. In cases like these, there are absolutely no fees for you to pay unless we can earn a recovery for what you’ve been through. Taking it a step further we offer in-office, home, and hospital visits so if you need a lawyer, we’ll be there. You can be assured that the other side will have their insurance company working on the defense of their case from day 1, you deserve the same level of attention and treatment. We can assure you, the level of service we offer our client’s dealing with an injury is second to none.
